Joe Benziger's twist on a Super-Tuscan blend. Sangiovese as the base, softens the wine, bringing bright red fruit while adding an intense cherry nose.
Our Artistry Series celebrates the creativity that winemaking and traditional art have in common. In this series we focus on four blends that represent Joe Benziger’s interpretation of renowned wine growing regions throughout the world. The wines are named for critical stages in the artistic process; from the spark of inspiration, to the connection between the artist and the observer as the work is interpreted.
Tasting Notes: The 2014 Creation is Joe’s twist on a super-Tuscan. Sangiovese as the base, softens the wine, bringing bright red fruit while adding an intense cherry nose. The addition of Cabernet adds a rustic flare with black fruit, pepper and nice structure. The sum of its parts creates a wine that is fruity, with intense aromas and a slightly tannic body and with sharp acids; this wine is a great food wine.
Vinification: Each varietal went through partial malolactic fermentation and was aged separately until the final blend. Aging took place in French oak barrels for 20 months.
