Tasting Notes: A sleek but concentrated Cab Franc showing blackberry, red plum and currant flavors lined with spice, cassis and dark chocolate notes. This wine has a nice density in the mid-palate that helps balance tannin structure and complement its dark flavors. A great wine to age in the bottle because of its tannin structure and density. Drink now or cellar for 6-10 years.

Vinification: Fermentation took place in small open top tanks and was punched down daily. After pressing, the wine was racked to French oak barrels and aged for 18 months before bottling.

Vintage: Growing season 2015 was in the fourth year of the severe drought in California. The normally rainy season between January and March was quite dry resulting in a lighter harvest and an early one.

Varietal: Cabernet Franc is often blended alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to add depth to traditional Bordeaux wines. On its own, Cabernet Franc produces alluring wines that are early-maturing with generous mouthfeel and fruit. Our Cabernet Franc possesses the robust structure typical of this varietal. The grape’s naturally dark fruit and medium body are enhanced by extended barrel aging. By the time it’s bottled, the wine is richly textured with signature black cherry fruit, herbal undertones and well-integrated tannins.
