The classic Syrah adds body, structure and just a little bit of spice, while the blueberries give this wine lush fruit components.
Tasting Notes: Code Blue is highly aromatic and practically bursts with ripe, bold flavors. The classic Syrah adds body, structure and just a little bit of spice, while the blueberries give this wine lush fruit components. A well-balanced wine, this blend is smooth with a lasting finish.
Vinification: Code Blue was crafted using the same winemaking techniques seen in most Imagery red wines, with one key difference - the addition of big, beautiful, blueberries! Mendocino blueberries were harvested in August of 2016 and flash frozen to await their Syrah counterpart. In October, Sonoma Valley grapes were finally ready to pick. The Syrah went into small, open top, two ton tanks and were topped with the frozen blueberries.
Together the Syrah and blueberries went through four days of (VERY) cold soak, then were punched down by hand and aged in French oak for 9 months.
